The TikTok Ban & Inauguration Are Out of Your Control—Here’s What Isn’t
Amidst Political Shifts and Social Media Uncertainty, Discover How to Reclaim Your Inner Peace
Happy Monday.
Today, a collective energy is swirling—across political landscapes, social media feeds, and the unpredictable shifts in digital spaces.
However you feel about politics, today is divisive. It’s easy to get swept up in the storm—to tune into every breaking news broadcast, every opinion piece, every social media post. To seek validation for your feelings. Or to fuel outrage for what’s to come.
And now, with the TikTok ban, countless creators who built their livelihoods on that platform are left in sudden uncertainty—a stark reminder of what happens when you place your power, attention, and autonomy in a space you do not own.
This is one of the main reasons why, despite consistent urging from my publishers, I never joined.
Because when you build your world on borrowed land, it can disappear in an instant. And then what?
This is why I have always chosen slower, safer spaces—my newsletter, my website, my direct relationships with my audience. It may not be the fastest path to growth, but it’s real, sustainable, and aligned.
Today, there are endless ways to focus on what you can’t control:
The presidency.
The ban.
The chaos of the world.
The unfairness of it all.
Or—you can choose something else.
You can choose to focus on the one thing that has always been within your control:
Your thoughts.
Your breath.
Your state of being.
Alex and I are building Unreachable around this very principle, and we invite you to do the same. You can start by asking:
Where do I place my time and energy?
Who do I give my power away to?
And if I don’t shift back to myself, am I truly creating my own life?
The external world will always shift. But you are the constant. You get to choose your thoughts, actions, and feelings. Below is one of our favorite ways to get out of our heads and back into our hearts and bodies.
Whatever the day brings, we hope you find some peace. Starting now.
Embodiment Exercise: The Power Reclamation Practice
Goal: To bring awareness back to yourself and detach from external chaos.
Step 1: The Energy Audit
Close your eyes.
Take three slow breaths, deep into your belly.
Ask yourself: Where is my energy going today?
Name the top three things taking up your mental space.
Step 2: The Power Question
With each of those three things, ask:
"Is this something I can control?"
"If not, how much of my energy is it worth?"
If the answer is no, visualize pulling that energy back to yourself—imagine it returning to your body, your breath, your presence.
Step 3: The Recentered Choice
Place a hand on your chest and whisper:
"I call my power back."
"I choose where my attention goes."
"I am in control of my state of being."
Open your eyes and take one small action that brings you back to presence—a walk, a stretch, a moment of silence.
Takeaway: The world will always pull at your energy. But you decide what gets your attention. You decide where your power flows.
This week, we challenge you to notice where you’re placing your attention. Are you giving it freely? Or are you choosing it intentionally?
Here’s to finding some peace among the chaos.
