When we started this space, it was to explore the Unreachable life. But like most meaningful things, the story begins long before the idea took shape.
I’ve spent years as an author, publishing my first novel at 22, followed by four nonfiction titles and eight suspense, thriller, and women’s fiction novels through major publishers. Along the way, I became what I now call a “book doula,” guiding hundreds of authors through editing, co-writing, proposal development, ghostwriting, and more. Helping someone bring their story into the world is a profound responsibility. It’s also been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
But slowly, the rhythm began to shift. What once felt like pure creation started to turn into performance, marketing, promoting, posting… always posting. The pressure to “build a platform,” to be everywhere, to keep selling, it began to wear me down. The joy of writing was still there, but it was buried under noise. I won’t go into all the details here, but I’ve shared more in my two Writer’s Digest articles: HERE and HERE.
So when we created Unreachable, I asked a quiet question:
Can I still be an author without playing the game?
Can I say no to the noise?
Can I launch a book without a marketing circus?
Can I honor the season I’m in without chasing what I’m told I need?
This path hasn’t been linear. I’ve experienced big wins and hard losses. But one thing has become clear: my desire to return to the page, to myself, must come before all the busywork that has crept into the creative process.
And truthfully, that’s not just about writing.
It’s about living.
So many of us are tangled in noise: to-do lists, inboxes, texts, scrolling, endless tabs open in our minds. We tell ourselves we’re setting boundaries, but still, time slips through our fingers like sand.
Does the inbox ever empty?
Do the messages ever stop?
Do we ever feel whole after another scroll?
This year, I’m choosing to direct my attention with care.
Because where we place our attention is where we place our energy.
And I want mine to go somewhere that matters.
Next week, my eighth novel releases. It’s filled with haunted houses, 90s gymnastics, and eerie October energy. But instead of launching into a whirlwind of events and promotion, I’m choosing stillness. I'm honoring my own need to winter. To rest. To say yes only to what feels good and release the rest.
Even when it's hard.
Even when it feels unfamiliar.
Because how we spend our time… is how we spend our lives.
That’s what Unreachable is really about.
Less digital noise. More real presence.
More of you, here, now.
And if you’re ready to begin, we’d love to help. Through our $10/month subscription, you’ll get access to gentle tools like a 10-minute breathwork protocol, a Wintering checklist, a 21-Day Reset, a 30-Day Mental Fasting guide, and more.
Because coming home to yourself is the most radical thing you can do. And now, right now, is the perfect time to begin.
With love,
Rea
