The Breath Trick That Instantly Calms Your Nervous System

Hey there,

It’s Tuesday, which is all about the breath. Today, I want to share a simple, powerful technique I use to calm my nervous system and create space for clarity: Top Triangle Breathing. Triangle breathing helps alleviate anxiety and reduces stress levels.

Here’s how it works:

  • Inhale for a count of 4.

  • Hold for 4.

  • Exhale for 4.

Repeat this cycle for 5 minutes, all through the nose. If you can, do it outdoors, letting the fresh air anchor you into the present moment. As you settle into the rhythm, notice what shifts. A deeper sense of calm? More clarity? A lighter feeling in your chest?

As Thich Nhat Hanh said, “Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts.”

If you try this, I’d love to know: How did this practice feel? Did you notice a shift? And how can you plan to make this a part of your daily routine?

Let’s keep exploring. Let’s keep breathing.
