Hi!
Today, I wanted to share two of my favorite ways I love to “move” energy when I don’t have a lot of time on my hands.
Both of these can be done shortly after waking up (and repeated throughout the day as necessary). String them together for an energetic boost! (It’s better than coffee—I swear.)
The Vocal Shake
This short exercise gets me out of my head and into my body instantly. If I have pent up energy, am nervous, anxious, or frustrated about something, this is literally my go-to move.
Stand barefoot (preferably outside). Begin gently bouncing up and down on your toes and shaking out your arms. Really shake, move, jump, kick/shake out one leg at a time… whatever feels good. As you do, inhale and on the exhale, let out whatever sounds you want. Moans, grunts, guttural sounds, screams, buzzing your lips, etc. Keep repeating this until you feel you’ve “moved” what you need to move.
The Sweeping Breath
Stand comfortably with your feet hip-width apart. Squat down and as you rise, sweep your arms in an arc out and over your head and inhale through the nose.
As you arc your arms back down in front of your body and lower into another squat, exhale forcefully out of your mouth with a “ha” or “whoosh” sound.
Repeat for 30, 40, or 50 breaths.
That’s it! Two short exercises to energize you for the day!
Try it and let us know what you think!
